Every manuscript is different. Depending on your draft's stage and your goals, we recommend one or more of these editing approaches:

Developmental Editing

For manuscripts in draft or revision stage. We assess structure, pacing, character development, plot coherence, and thematic strength. You'll receive a detailed editorial letter with big-picture recommendations, plus scene-by-scene notes.

Best for: Early drafts, first-time authors, significant rewrites

Line Editing

Once structure is solid, we refine prose at the sentence level. This includes flow, rhythm, word choice, style consistency, and emotional resonance. Every line is scrutinized for clarity, impact, and your unique voice.

Best for: Polishing drafts, strengthening voice, improving readability

Copy Editing & Proofreading

The final pass. We catch grammar, punctuation, spelling, consistency issues, and formatting errors. Essential before submission to retailers. Delivered with tracked changes so you can review every suggestion.

You submit your manuscript (any format). We read it in full, assessing scope, genre, and editing needs. Within 2 business days, we provide a free assessment of which editing level(s) we recommend.

Edit & feedback

Your assigned editor works through your manuscript using track changes, comments, and a detailed editorial letter or style report. Turnaround is typically 2–3 weeks depending on length.

Revisions & approval

You review changes, accept/reject suggestions, and incorporate feedback. Our Professional package includes one full revision round. Starter includes consultation on major revisions.

Final polish

Your manuscript is publication-ready. Editors are available for follow-up questions. Your book is now polished, confident, and ready for the next step: formatting or cover design.

How long does manuscript editing take? +
Typically 2–4 weeks depending on manuscript length, editing depth, and our current schedule. We offer 48-hour priority editing for an additional fee if you're on a tight deadline.
Will an editor change my voice? +
No. A core principle of our editing is preserving the author's unique voice. We strengthen prose, improve clarity, and eliminate errors—but the manuscript remains unmistakably yours.
What file formats do you accept? +
We accept .docx (Word), .pages, .rtf, .odt, and Google Docs links. Most authors submit Word format, which works best with our track-changes workflow.
Do you offer a free sample edit? +
Yes. Submit your first 2,500 words and we'll provide a detailed sample edit showing exactly what you can expect. No obligation. Most authors use this to decide if our style is the right fit.
What if I'm not happy with the edits? +
All packages include at least one revision round. Our Professional package includes unlimited revisions until you're satisfied. In the unlikely event you're unhappy, we offer a full refund—no questions asked.
